Their knowledge of hydrography questioning DHB's scientific research about dredging the Goodwins, and their knowledge of structural engineering and soil mechanics forensically probing RailTrack's attempts to fix the track between Dover and Folkestone, Deal Town Council have now turned their thoughts to Brexit!

Whilst for most with one jot of intelligence, the topic is finely balanced, and from the Governor of the Bank of England to Financial Journalists, any comments I've read have been couched in terms of 'weighing up the arguments both for and against' before coming out with a statement filled with provisos saying that on balance etc etc, DTC has no such worries.
Remember, the finest brains in the land were unable to forecast the financial crash of 2008/09 no one is going to be stupid enough to make a definite economic prediction on Brexit.
No one apart from Deal Town Council that is!
The statement as passed by Deal Town Council is the sort of definitive view one is likely to overhear at closing time in a bar usually coupled with easy options for the Government to deal with war in the Middle East, Immigration control and Climate Change (were it to exist! Please discuss .....) and other matters which become crystal clear after enough 'falling over water'.
Anyone who 'knows' exactly how any Brexit would affect the local economy is either an economic genius or seriously deluded.
I have seen no sign of the former quality in councillors.
As for 'belief' might I suggest they keep this for matters of faith and deal with things they actually 'know' like the state of local pavements, parking problems, planning matters etc etc where there is an outside chance that they might actually be able to do something useful rather than wallowing in the sound of their own pontifications and political posturing.
