The question is in
The Bill - "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union?"
Though it could be changed before it becomes law, and there is a view that the answer giving a Yes vote has an advantage as people don't like to vote No.

This chap Rose has always said that membership was vital as the supply of labour kept wages low.

In the last few years I have yet to meet anyone who wants to stay in without there being a lot of changes that the EU do not want.

I have never heard anyone explain why we should remain in the EU either in the media or real life. The usual retort is to mumble about influence on the world stage which would be unaffected and trade which would also be unaffected.

From the Telegraph, Dave's demands from Brussels.
Forcing Brussels to make "an explicit statement" that Britain will be kept out of any move towards a European superstate. This will require an exemption for the UK from the EU's founding principle of "ever closer union".
An "explicit statement" that the euro is not the official currency of the EU, making clear that Europe is a "multi-currency" union. Ministers want this declaration in order to protect the status of the pound sterling as a legitimate currency that will always exist.
A new "red card" system to bring power back from Brussels to Britain. This would give groups of national parliaments the power to stop unwanted directives being handed down and to scrap existing EU laws.
A new structure for the EU itself. The block of 28 nations must be reorganised to prevent the nine countries that are not in the eurozone being dominated by the 19 member states that are, with particular protections for the City of London.

No.3 is a non starter if we were allowed to "red card" directives and repeal ones already in place then all the other members would want the same powers effectively putting the European Commission out of work. Vested interests will prevail.

Spot on with that one Bob do a trade deal but keep sovereignty. Moving on the stay in brigade have got to an awful start in my view with Stuart Rose and Ken Clarke celebrating free movement as vital to the economy when what they really mean is profits for businesses and dividends to shareholders. Neither seem concerned about how communities are affected by pressure being put on schools, GP surgeries and hospitals. Rose makes disparaging comments about our workers not wanting to do menial tasks but the jobs were done prior to free movement.

The Prime Minister seems to be getting no change out of his fellow leaders of member states and is likely to come back empty handed. The most bandied about date for the referendum is next June and with the current polls showing neck and neck the undecideds at present will make the difference in the end.

I don't agree we get 'barrow loads of dosh back', I don't think it's good to be governed by people miles from home with idealistic views and economics that have never been properly accounted. As an island that was once great, we can easily achieve that status again. It's politics that is broken, not the economy. I would have thought that people should be mostly annoyed because we have all been constantly mislead about the project from day one.

I have never heard anyone give a rational reason why we should stay in the EU. Mutterings of "all this trade we will lose" being a nett importer that argument falls at the first hurdle. Then we have a seat at the top table - of what? Moving on it is then influence within the EU - 20 odd nation states and all have to agree on any serious reform for it to be passed. Desperation then sets in accusations of isolation when we plan to trade with the rest of the world.

It would take a gigantic change for me to vote yes and simply I can't see that happening.

I was talking to nurses up the hospital, and they tell me all the staff and managers are trying to cut back and save money because the local N H S trust is £38 million in debt.
I reminded them that it isn't even one days EU membership fee,, Vote out!
