To say nothing of the numerous voters who seemingly endorsed the idea of GBD and who thought either that Boris was cool too, or that he was a price worth paying.

Not sure how many days it is now but I note the daily drip feed of #partygate has moved on from 'parties' held at No10 in December 2020 to a 'party' held at No10 in May 2021. Just wow!
Can't think of any other President/Prime Minister who would have a press which would have managed to whip up such a furore over such matters.
I know Cummings is enjoying 'pay back time' but is this the best Her Majesties Opposition can do?

Forever in step with the zeitgeist, eh? Don't you think that just maybe a little more honesty and contrition might help his cause? No. Probably not. Silly question.

I believe it is not just the party event that has annoyed so many of us non political people it was the end of the latest invite where the phrase 'bring your own booze' was used. Not only does that show complete disregard for how the public were told and expected to behave but also shows there was obvious flouting of those rules and the lack of any morals from those at the top.
Last night on Sky News displayed an almost endless list of dubious events held in the months since the stringent rules were introduced, a clear case of one rule for them and another for us plebs.

Post 133 shows why we end up with people like bungling Boris
I'm Interested to know post 136
After boiling down candidates from 11 to 2
What happened to the other 9 after being boiled down lol
Unusually Lol I'm with Neil on the present political situation .
It's in labours interest that Boris stays as long as possible , I just cannot see the conservatives allowing this to go on much longer .
It is though for Keir to give clear guidance as to why people should vote labour if he wishes to reach number 10, and if we are going the route of the centre ground and not into some form of nationalisation of say railways and look at others
And looking seriously at the NHS it may struggle
Post 133 misses the point of a prime minister it is to with us when people lose loved ones(I lost my mum)
And many others lost loved ones sticking by Boris telling us to stay at home .
Only to find he partied the nights away

That's what's changed, Captain. The old "nothing to see here" excuse just isn't cutting it now. As for HMO, it's not about them. This is only resolved one way: Johnson comes out and says yes he was there, that he is sorry and he understands the anger felt. Does that, and he might just win a battle of attrition. Anything less, he's toast (one way or another).

Mildly surprised that those on the lower floors of no.11 didn't spot anything.

Well. That was quite a watch. Johnson worse than I expected; Starmer much better. He's done. Even if his pathetic excuse flies with Sue Gray, the public have had enough of being taken for fools.

Still being backed by his party .
Boris looked awful today
Watching PMQ
I don't think Boris wanted to recognise his mistake
.or what others have been through.
Taking the politics out of it
Is it one rule for Boris
And another for the rest of us ?

This is what happens when you bring the party into disrepute:

I think we should all listen to Roger Gale (Kent conservative MP)
Who stated Boris is now a dead man walking , and it's time for him to go, and he's written to the 1922 committee to ask them to start processing .
I know Neil won't be happy with this lol

A clear pattern is forming. Those defending the PM the most are those who know damn well that they wouldn't be anywhere near a Cabinet position under any serious PM. Nadine Dories and JRM, for example.
I do think they'll (the Tories) will try and drag it out and get rid after the May elections if they get a hammering. The curveball is a damning report from Sue Gray, in which case even Johnson would have to resign anyway.

Boris has to go now. The average voter will never forgive him especially after far to many deaths involving their family and friends while he was happily involved with these gatherings.
If Boris is still there for the May elections I am sure many Tory councillors will be the loser, local elections always raise the protest voter.

The best we can expect from Sue Gray is a factual resume of events. She's not the paragon of impartiality and intergrity the Tories crack her up to be. There is good witness evidence that she attended one such party herself.
It's a farce. Does Boris need a senior civil servant to tell him which way round he should put his pants on in the morning?

Ms Gray is duty bound, as a civil servant, to be impartial; however she is being asked to investigate and report on her bosses, so don't expect her report to be hard hitting.
At best she will deliver a timeline of events with corroborating evidence, at worst (they will all have purged their phones and email accounts) her report will be a flannel job.

Surely the conservatives won't want this to drag on until May

Exactly this. The trick is to understand that getting rid of the government and getting rid of the Prime Minister are very different things. Far better to have a fatally wounded PM limping on, than a refreshed Tory party under new leadership. If it's that obvious to us, it will be obvious to Tory party leadership.
