Mum was a true-blue for virtually all her life, always voting for the Tory candidate, whose surname put him third on the ballot paper. At least, until another candidate stood and Mr Cope appeared fourth on the paper; whoops! Sure, Labour voters swung to the Lib Dems in their droves. That doesn't mean that will happen in other contentious seats.
