We now have the Lord Chancellor (Raab), in charge of the courts, saying that "Police do not look into crime retrospectively". How low can this lot take things? They know they had a party, they are just sticking two fingers up at everyone else.

Neil - this from the Met last year. The day before the Xmas party at Number 10. The stench refuses to go away.

My guess is that Downing Street is now desperately searching for a scapegoat - and any plan that gets the PM personally off the hook, regardless of how many others go under the bus as a result. The more Ministers are interviewed, the deeper the hole becomes.

I think we all know that our MPs of all parties tend to think they are more important than the rest of us.
I also think there are far more important things for everyone to worry about than that bunch of numpties in Parliament possibly bending the sometimes confusing rules a year ago.

He didn't think this through did he?
ALL crime happened in the past and is therefore investigated retrospectively?
We're not in Minority Report territory yet!
What he actually meant was that most sane people don't give a toss.
A bit like Dominic Cummings eye-test drive.

Your continued attack on Boris does you know justice , I think it's fair to say very few people agree with Boris and his party over last year .
I think everyone who wants to know , now knows .
But what I'm still waiting for Is not all the anti conservative tripe , but a move towards , well under labour we will no longer be expelling members who disagree with us , and get back to the broad church we once indicated we were .
And not stop individual members standing in selections.
And then most importantly a long list of why labour will have a new refreshing programme that will save us all

Why is it right that the Met should fine the little people yet ignore brazen double standards from those who set the rules? There are lots of important things happening all around us. I'm saddened that you don't think pulling the wool over the populace's eyes is amongst them. Each to their own, I suppose.

Stuart/Ray please grow up you certainly seem to delight in what my mother would have called nit picking, not that I really care it gives you yet another chance to complain about the Government.

The real issue from the events of a year ago is why the Downing Street copper was left outside to keep the cat company and watch out for marauding cyclists instead of being invited in for some alcohol-free punch and a mince pie!

I'm happier to be called Stuart, Jan. I was never comfortable lurking behind my anagram pseudonym. I can't understand why you think think (or your mother might have done) that this is nit-picking. Governments, in my view, shoudn't lie to their voters or practice such blatant double standards when so may people have died. I complain about alot of things on here when I feel the complaint is justified. You're always welcome to counter my arguments, if you can.
And, Christine, your humour does bring a smile sometimes even if it dodges the point in question.

Is Hobo Cop counting himself as one of the extra 20,000 police officers? I think we should be told.

He was just visiting, I believe. It's a thing with organisations being visited that they always give the politician a silly hat to wear, on the grounds that they're too thick to realise. Charlie E, for example, was rarely seen in public without sporting his helmet.
