Met my local Independent candidate for the first time this morning coming back from town and had a chance to ask questions. I have to say that Graham was very forthright and did not try to evade anything. Although we does not live in the ward he was born and brought up on the Folkestone Road and attended St Martin 's School. His local knowledge was very good and has strong views on the tram shelter issue.

Apart from the leaflet from Charlie no other leaflets about the local election have come through my door.
They must have heard they would probably go straight into the recycling box.

Was Ann too busy to write her own letter, i don't think i want a councillor who gets other people to do her dirty work!

How typical, I say something out of kilter with the status quo, on a Good Friday, and get crucified for it!

You can see from the above postings that parties are concentrating on priory Maxton and elms vale. if I could add a few comments,,,,,,
Graham Wanstall I feel he's a sincere enough guy but he is campaigning to Remove the tram shelter. so bear that in mind when you vote.
Its unfair I feel to slag off past candidates without the knowledge, the UKIP ex councillor in priory I did meet prior to him resigning and he had good reasons to resign and I wish him well.
To just be fair to all parties we do also have a conservative candidate

Graham is also campaigning for the return of the horse trough to its spiritual home from Market Square. The tram shelter has lost another pane of glass and is doubling as a homeless hostel some nights, plenty for voters to think about.

Mr Wanstall wants to open the area up by removing the tram shelter
(bear in mind it's listed, probably wouldn't take being moved, and the costs of moving it I hate to think of the cost as it would need a lot of specialist advice.
The houses close by would be unhappy if shelter ever moved.
If the schoold would take up my invite I would be happy to visit local schools in an hopeful education morning on the costs of replacing windows, and the history.
To date never taken up, nor has any Cllr in the ward taken up this offer.
Someone left clothes in the shelter which needs removing
theres a long way to go before the tram shelter goes anywhere(even if it could) but first the election lol

Should it ever be moved I would think that many local hauliers would have moved much more difficult loads in the past and would have the experience and equipment to complete the job safely at either end. I don't honestly see the point of visiting schools as 99.9 % of children wouldn't dream of being a vandal so rather insulting to them. We know there are a small group of feral youths that gather in around Elms Vale Recreation ground late at night being nuisances and leaving a mess behind them, any amount of lecturing would fall on deaf ears.

Roger Walkden is the Conservative candidate. Had a good track record locally. Worked hard. He has been working at Maxton/Elms Vale end of the ward Howard but will be heading your way. Plenty of time between now & 4th May. I'm sure he wouldn't miss out the opinion formers of Belgrave & Clarendon Howard.
