A pilot project run by Thanet Community Transport Association is being tried and tested in the Dover District to offer a flexible public transport alternative in the area. TCTA has a large fleet of purpose designed minibuses, and is able to pick up and drop off people from their homes in Dover District to their destination locally from £3.50 per person for each single journey.

Dover Town has been designated as a Neighbourhood Area following an application by Dover Town Council, to help the local community shape the future of the town.

On Sunday 26 August, the shore side stage will provide the platform for some great local talent to perform throughout the day and into the evening at the Port of Dover Community Regatta.

Dover District Council has granted planning permission for 70 extra care apartments for older people in a £25m redevelopment of the old sorting office on Charlton Green in Dover. The 0.69ha site will be developed by McCarthy & Stone, the UK's leading retirement house builder.

Work is due to start in the autumn on building works in Kearsney Abbey as part of the £3.1m Heritage Lottery funded Kearsney Parks project. Following a competitive tender Dover District Council has awarded a £1m contract to Coombs (Canterbury) Ltd.

Lauren Jolliffe, aged 8, of Dover was this year's lucky first prize winner of the Dover Marina Open Day kid's competition winning an exclusive VIP tour of the Port of Dover.

The new £26m Dover District Leisure Centre will be the first swimming pool in Kent to feature poolpod platform lifts, designed as a legacy of the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics to improve pool access for people with disabilities and the less mobile. They will be fitted in both the competition standard swimming pool and learner pool at the new leisure centre which opens in early 2019.

Dover District Council has served section 215 notices on The Castle Inn on Russell Street, and on two sites relating to land on the east side of King Street at the junction with Flying Horse Lane, and 8 King Street in Dover. The notices require improvements to the condition of the land and/or buildings with further action possible for non-compliance.

Members of the P&O Ferries Choir braved very wet and windy conditions to sing at the Sandgate Sea and Food Festival on Sunday. The performance came just a week after their Dover Summer Concert at St Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Maison Dieu Road, marking the fifth anniversary of the choir's formation.
