Community groups looking to deliver Community Led Housing schemes in the area have been invited to apply to Dover District Council for grants to help their projects, as part of a new scheme that opens today.

Dover floral expert Gladys Ray dies at the age of 100

A Dover floral expert who arranged flowers for the Queen Mother and also exhibited at Chelsea has died at the age of 100. Gladys Ray, who had lived in River for the past 32 years, won international recognition and helped train many people in the art of flower arranging.
Dover District Council elects Chairman and Vice Chairman

Dover District Council elected its Chairman and Vice Chairman for 2018/19 at the Annual Meeting of the Council yesterday. The Chairman of the Council is Cllr Sue Chandler and the Vice Chairman is Cllr David Hannent, both elected for the fourth year.

Three empty houses on Folkestone Road have been extensively renovated and brought back into use providing quality interim accommodation for homeless people waiting to move into permanent accommodation. The properties have been converted to provide a total of nine new units, including six studio apartments and three two-bedroom flats.

Dover District Council continues to drive home the message to people not to drop litter from their vehicles, and is working to clear our roadsides, including recent clearances on the A2 and A20, which collected over 15 tonnes of litter and debris.
