Tributes have been paid to a Dover mother who was once ranked as one of the top female snooker players in the world. Dawn Wells, who died aged 46, was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. She and her partner Simon had two sons, Daniel and Matthew, and a Requiem Mass celebrating her life was held at St Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Dover.

Port of Dover announces fifth consecutive record year for freight

Freight volumes through the Port of Dover have reached record levels for the fifth consecutive year. The Port handled 2,601,162 lorries in 2017 - up on the previous record by almost 10,000 units. It brings the total increase over the last five years to just under 650,000 units or 33% per cent.

Bike stolen in Shepherdswell robbery

Kent Police officers are appealing for information into a reported robbery in Shepherdswell where a bicycle was stolen from a teenage boy. At around 4.30pm on Tuesday 16 January the victim was cycling in the area of Siberts Close when a man approached him and asked for directions. It is alleged that whilst the boy was giving him directions he was pushed off the bike and the bike was taken.
Raising the roof on new Dover District Leisure Centre

Roof beams for the new £26m Dover District Leisure Centre are set to make their way from the Port of Dover to Whitfield in a special overnight operation on Wednesday. The glulam beams have been manufactured by Rubner Holzbau in Austria and are being shipped to Dover by ferry.
