Dover District Council has marked the start of a £1m project to restore and extend the café at Kearsney Abbey. The project includes the restoration of the Grade II listed billiards room, the only remaining structure from the mansion which originally stood on the site.

At a meeting of Dover District Council on Wednesday, Council agreed to release funding for the redevelopment of the William Muge/Snelgrove House site, which is set to include 29 shared ownership apartments, 24 social housing apartments, and 12 town houses.

Dover District Council has launched a tender for an architect to lead a multi-disciplinary design team for its ambitious restoration plans for the Grade I Listed Maison Dieu in Dover town centre. The project was awarded £427,400 from the Heritage Lottery Fund in July to develop further its plans to create a thriving cultural venue.

Officers investigating a report of a collision in Dover are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The collision involving a pedestrian and a Mercedes Sprinter box van was reported to have taken place at about 10am this morning in Castle Street, near to the junction with Church Street.
