are we to understand that the family that has made your life a misery, is involved with the electoral process?

22:377645Yes it will most probably be a low turn out however its up to the candidates to canvass know their patch and ensure people turn out .You have done it Barry. You dont get elected sitting at home on your *** ,and once elected you remeber to go back to the electorate not wait another four years. You have to do the work not the press or this forum.

17:267680I have just seen a flyer, of the conservative party, one point that should be put right is about the independent councillor, Paul Verril has a life threatening illness Motor Neurone, gradually his health deteriated, and has gone to Maidstone for treatment, having to attend hospital frequently, it is only common sense that he should move there, also I'm sure if he had had the choice, of serving the Town, (with which he was dedicated to doing) or this illness, I'm sure he would have chosen his beloved town

19:557694Thank you Sheila, I had just seen that on the flyer and thought it was a bit low trying to make political capital out of someones illness.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

21:287787I think the electorate of St Radigunds are not stupid, and they will vote for people who they know will work hard for them, whos been around prior to this election, who has an interest before today of St Rads/Town.
who they feel will live close enough, and spend time walking the ward, working in the ward.
I give the residents the credit, at the end of the day they will decide

22:217791Yes they will Keith. Win or lose I can accept either gracefully

09:217799Thank you Sheila - you have my great respect for your comments - I said I wouldn't use the forum for this but have been agonising over some daft comments as I will defend those who cannot speak for themselves and correct misstatements.
You, like I have seen Paul struggle try and get his words out in Council when he wasnt too strong. He did a huge amount for Dover incl weekly football coaching and left with much regret. It was due to him that we got our tie up with the London Club.
Negative personal attacks are contra productive - sad isnt it , but it demeans the person making them...

22:517835As a voter in said ward so far i have only seen two fliers and no candidate has spoken to me, ok i know vic and mandie but could the lack of effort on the candidates be partially responsible for the voter apathy.

07:537846Hi Guzzler. I was actually out the best part of saturday canvassing and talking to people in the ward.
As I am sure you will appreciate there are some people who want to talk and discuss issues with you, and this can be quite lengthy, especially when the electorate don't feel as they have been treated well in the past, making it impossible to get to every house in the ward.
Hopefully I shall be out and about again this weekend.
Hope this helps
