Bern must agree with you Haven't seen a single candidate yet, talking to them would be good.Howard article's in the paper haven't yet put forward the way they are thinking about St Rad's or what lies in the future, the same as the one's out side the council office's, just names and addresses and who they stand for if they can be bothered to stand for anyone. Once they bother to talk to us we can engage with democracy and take the initiative and be bothered to off our pizza kebab eating arses and vote as you seem to think Howard.

10:248072Quite right Sue. I am by no means a 'believer' in any kind of relgion but I do consider Sunday campaigning to be counter productive and never did do it, certainly not canvassing, though a few leaflet deliveries are OK as long as it is minimal. When you are fighting an election you need a day a week to catch your breath, recharge your batteries and reflect on the previous weeks efforts. You need to keep on top of your game and with electioneering being an exhausting activity at the best of times, you need to take some time out to rest.
We had no more than three canvassers in the old days of Barton Ward (two Conservative candidates plus one 'old hand') with well over 3,000 electors to get around we managed as close to a 100% canvass as it is possible to get. Those were the days!

11:048075Bring them back!! At risk of sounding like an old fogey (quite appropriately probably!) political campaigning used to be about people. Back in the day when I was a blue we went to Westminster to meet up, people were accessible and personable, willing to engage with the electorate. Ditto when I grew up and turned red. Now it seems that often even local politicians are in it only for the photo-op and the events. I realise that's a sweeping generalisation, and some reps do a good job of knowing their public, but sadly it seems they are a minority. It is a great loss.

21:588101knocking on doors can be counter productive, if a labour voter answers the door to a tory, he/she will deliberately engage the caller in a long coversation.
likewise in reverse.

23:238102I do not knock on any doors just do my flyers and that is the end of it unless someone stops me then I will talk to them. IF they like what my flyers have on them they can vote for me if not they will vote for one of the others or none of us, we will have to wait and see.

09:528107Most candidates Sue seem to over estimate the power they will have as a town councillor.

10:408114Well Stewart,
As you say(and i have said) there are no favourites but 3 of the candidates living in ward will help them.
Labour have held seat as have the alliance.
other parties(individuals)not well known in area, from what im being told.
As iv said before the small part of the electorate will decide the fate in this election.
Iv got my ear to the ground and see a favourite emerging
but all have faults which may drag em down
roll on election day
