Though admittedly a digression from the thread Keith is right about the local NHS financial solution. My GP referred me to a consultant on an urgent basis telling me that I would be seen in approx 2 weeks. That was in August.

What Dave said then, all very different now banning cabinet members from speaking out.
In November 2007 he described an ever closer European Union as: 'The last gasp of an outdated ideology, a philosophy that has no place in our new world of freedom, a world which demands we fight bureaucratic over-reach and lead Europe into the hope and potential of a post-bureaucratic age.'

I agree, apart from the fact that austerity is not a well planned action (it is simply reducing the amount of money available to particular departments and leaving them to work it out), that we would be able to maintain a level of standards while reducing our deficit, albeit slowly, if we weren't spending this obscene amount to belong to this ridiculous organisation. Yesterday, a publication came through the letterbox, which of course is biased towards leaving, that claims each household could be £1000 better off a year if we were to leave.

Who is footing the bill for each campaign, hopefully not the taxpayer as both sides have plenty of big money backers? Dave is supposed to be leafleting every household in the country urging them to vote to stay in because of the wonderful new reforms that he hasn't and will not negotiate. On News24 a few days back both sides fielded their most popular politicians to kick start things - Suzanne Evans for out and Alan Johnson for in, will be difficult for either side to follow that up.

The general view is that the referendum will be held sometime in 2016 and doubtless the Prime Minister will trumpet about "reforms" he has negotiated. However as far as I can see France and Germany have proposed that the 4 year ban on benefits be amended to 3 years which is all very well but surely the other 20 odd nations have to agree with this too?

Well that's me decided, definitely voting to leave.
According to
this article , and I've no reason to suspect it's untrue, it is now illegal for inshore fishermen including beach and pier anglers to catch a bass for the next six months, after which each person will be allowed to catch just one.
All done in the name of conservation which I don't object to, but then the offshore fleet, largely French and Spanish, can carry on unhindered and still catch 1.3 tonnes a month. Crazy.

That story is widespread in more unbiased sources so it must be true and just the sort of thing that bureaucrats like to dream up to exert power over the ordinary person. a bit off putting though was the howls of anguish from Nigel Farage about the wider issue of fishing quotas when he was on the committee that decided upon them and he never bothered to turn up.

It is a typical littlejohn fabrication, there is a 6mth ban on both commercial and recreational fishing and it wasn't snuck in the was full disclosure in early November(was in national press)the commission has been asked to clarify certain details and meanings of clauses before any implementation.
And as for Farage ukip should drop him if they ever want to be taken seriously.

What is going on? 2 days ago Paul Watkins was reporting on alleged UKIP personnel matters now Reginald wants to drop Farage. Infamy, they have it in for me?
At least no-one has come out with the pun, a fishy tale or smells fishy.
At least Reginald agrees on a 6 months ban.Who will police it?

I think Reg is right on the Farage issue he just appeals to his disciples who utter statements like "Nigel talks common sense" and Nigel is the only politician that tells the truth". He just grates on everyone else and ensures that UKIP's appeal is limited.
Let's look at the alternatives - Suzanne Evans is a natural and would attract disillusioned voters from other parties, Paul Nuttall writes and speaks well but the Liverpool accent is a vote loser that just leaves Douglas Carswell, trouble is he dislikes most things that UKIP supporters like.

Forgot about the ban, yes it will be difficult to police and I would have thought staff deployed at recognised fishing ports would be the best way but different countries take the matter more seriously than others.
