Oh dear. What a sad state we have fallen into.

So Number 10, having found out that the PM was going to get a fine, has spent the last week briefing against the Chancellor as the obvious successor - only to find out that he's getting one too. Superb plot twist would be for Sunak to resign and leave Johnson stranded.

What a state this Govt is in .
Funny how govt supporters are hoping this isn't discussed and trying to play it all down

Very true. One might notice the absence of comment even on here.

Sad that Roger Gale isn't calling for resignation
But you can't just keep putting it off .
.everyone waited the police report ..even Boris said once it's out it needs to be dealt with it .
.now he's saying he won't resign .
Confidence in the Govt must be at its lowest for some years

Starmer must be counting his blessings as the PM and his Chancellor prove they have no morals, not only by ignoring their own advice but then having the nerve to lie about it.
There can be no defense for the indefensible.

Is there anybody out there who is seriously defending this lying, self-serving, odious hypocrite? Without doubt, the worst PM leading the worst government in my lifetime. Doubtless our morally invertebrate MP will persist with her craven bleatings on his behalf.

It looks very much like near universal support among Tory MPs - with a huge caveat that it's all about timing. A poor showing in the May elections may prove to be too much.

I'm not sure I agree with the "there's a war on" argument (the 1944 Education Act, for example, suggests that parliamentary proceedings don't stop during conflicts), but the main problem with it is that it can easily get mistaken for the "he's said he's sorry and so doesn't have to go at all" view of life.
But help is at hand. All Tory MPs (or at least those who are not suffering from LMF) need do is to say they want to see him step down as an MP when the Ukrainian conflict is over, or at the next General Election, whichever is the sooner. Simples.

Sadly Jan .
Peopje have little more confidence in our Keith St.
He's been expelling people across the country who disagree with him
And parachuting in candidates in against the wishes of the local parties .
So concerning Boris might well survive longer term
I hope not
But I'm not that confident of any other replacement within Boris's Party or the opposition

At the moment Keith there is not one single MP of any party I can think of that has my full confidence, some are a bit better than others but not by much.

Well at least there is one minister with a backbone. It says so much about the rest of them, sadly.

He's made a very significant gesture at huge personal cost, but thankfully still has his £323 daily allowance as a Lord to fall back on, a very principled individual!

I think the current holding pattern suits everyone - but be 100% sure that someone within his own party will strike if there is a poor showing at the elections. He's very much on borrowed time in my view.

The penny is slowly dropping. It's those 'principles' again, Reggie.

Keir Starmer on the very top of his game yesterday. A few things struck me, first Mark Harper's decision to no longer back the PM, and second the fact that the Tories run out of obedient MPs to read the Whips planted questions. A slow burner, but I think he's in trouble here.
