Jan,
'At the time of those awful incidents the media coverage was extensive, maybe you did not manage to catch it all on your watery travels'.
Rubbish. This farce has been going on for 10 days and is still front page.
Liverpool Bomb was on a Sunday 14 Nov, One week later - no mention on front pages
MP's death on a Friday 15 Oct. One week later - no mention on front pages
Look them up yourself here and you will see that after a couple of days the story is no longer 'important'.

Perhaps we have got to the stage where Sadiq Khan is correct in saying that the threat of terror attacks are “part and parcel of living in a big city”?
Ray,
I never try to hide my 'true colours'.
WYSIWYG.
If you don't like what I write just be thankful you don't know the stuff I think but don't put into print.

Possibly not, but isn't this what equal opportunities are all about?

I think you'll find that in this case it was the former Downing Street Press Secretary, that is to say, the person in the video clip.

In which Carrie drops a live baby instead of a dead cat on the table!

To get back to the original point of this thread - you need to pass a police check-point to get into Downing Street. Every name is logged. The police were there. No time need be spent - no investigation is necessary. It's all already written down.
But still the gullible blather on.

It about now ,
Will this bring Bungling Boris down .
I don't think so,
But to the major opposition it won't make any difference as they are far from ready to get anywhere near number 10

You are correct on the rumblings on the Tory back benches ,the point I have been making is , the public have no mire faith in Starmer and his shady lot, than they have with bungling Boris
All
On today's news it's being quoted that the downing Street communications officer was not only at the party that wasn't a party , then was , but also gave out awards .
This really is becoming a farce , and hurtful to many people that this type of thing happened while we all struggled with loved ones.
Only by going through this hurtful time and I'm sure many of you did.
I was many times unable to see my mother in her last year's as the restrictions became stronger and ibstoid by these lack of visits .
Even when I could visit it was Inna seperate room completely screened , no touch , full PPE
Thankfully the hospital allowed me to be present in her final hours
That's where all this partying hurts

The trouble with the Tory Party at the moment is ever since Margaret left, the monied posh lot have gradually been taking over from the average background Tory so have not the slightest inkling of how the rest of us live.
The other problem is what my from up north daughter-in-law calls the London Bubble effect which generates a totally different attitude to the rest of the country, something she found out years ago when she first moved to Kent.

I'm in a minority of one in my extended family over all this - the youngsters and medico in particular have opinions similar to most posts on this thread and, written down, would probably appear in block capitals with lots of exclamation marks.
I'm a bit more laid back, I think. That there were/are hypocrites in Downing Street didn't really come as a surprise and I saw plenty of people around here who were not following the rules/guidelines/best practice either. Nothing is going to bring my friend back, so yes just go but without all the razzmatazz.
It would be nice to vote for someone instead of against someone for once, but I simply don't see it happening anytime soon. I have just taken a look at local Labour's Twitter-feed, website and Facebook page to see what's on their alternative menu: buggered if I can see anything. Ho hum, I daresay the media frontpages will fill up with something else ere long. (In a throw-back to the pronoun debate, I particularly BBC's incorrect reporting of the Daily Mail's article on the llama: "Geronimo's owner, Helen Macdonald, could now sue ministers over its manslaughter." )

Johnson is the classic 'useful idiot', who is no longer useful. Labour would be best served not pushing too hard for his removal at this point; better to let him limp on and let the Conservatives tear themselves apart in choosing a replacement. The covid restrictions vote on Tuesday will be interesting if it only carries with Labour votes, that will cause more chaos.

And meanwhile, relegated to the inner pages, is the news that will affect many of us in the long run. Compare and contrast with the bullish guff of some earlier posts.

From Wiki:-
a central figure on Brexit and frequently used his experience as a lawyer to propose amendments on the issue, with his interventions often being at odds with government policy. A prominent Remain supporter on Brexit, Grieve called for a second referendum on EU membership, and before being expelled had said that he and other Conservative rebels would support a vote of no confidence to bring down a Conservative government, if that were the only way to block the “catastrophic” damage from a bad Brexit.[4][5][6][7] In spring 2019, Grieve was threatened with deselection by his local party after losing a confidence vote by members.[8] In October 2019, following removal of the whip, Grieve announced that he would stand as an independent candidate in his constituency’s seat at the next general election. It was announced that the Liberal Democrats would stand aside to help him,[9] but to no avail, as he lost his seat.
He's a rather bitter and twisted yesterday's man in my opinion.

From Wiki - did you write that, Cap'n? Anyone can compile a Wiki entry and amend it to suit their predelictions. Did you know that?
Your devotion to the party is touching but increasingly laughable. Grieve, Gauke and quite a few others were honest party members who weren't prepared to dissemble to keep their place in Johnson's lickspittle band of followers or con the electorate into believing that 'getting Brexit done' was some sort of panacea to end all our woes.
It doesn't surprise me in the least that you find his comments irksome.
#75 might give you a clue as to why.
The longer this farce goes on, the greater the chance of the penny dropping, perhaps? No. Somehow I doubt it in your case.

According to the BBC "Liz Truss says she is not able to define what a party is, [after reports of Downing Street parties 12 months ago in lockdown]". Wow, I bet she was a bundle of laughs at Oxford Uni then!
