Dover District Council has brought the maintenance of its parks and open spaces in-house with effect from 1 April 2017 as a new team of 25 directly employed staff gets to work on Council-owned land across the district.

More people have volunteered to become part of a charity which has been set up to help regenerate Dover town centre. LoveDover was launched last year to bring potentially empty buildings back into use, and Dover town councillors agreed to provide £350,000 funding to get the charity started.
The Lion King comes to Kearsney Abbey at an outdoor cinema event this May

An open air cinema event for the whole family is coming to Kearsney Abbey on Friday 26 May with a screening of Disney's The Lion King. The film will be shown on the south side of the lake, on the site of the old outdoor theatre.

Easter celebrations at a Dover church will include a fund-raising event to help those affected by the famine in Africa. As well as marking the biblical Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday events, members of the Beacon Church are supporting those on the brink of starvation in South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Kent Police officers searching for a missing 53-year-old man from Dover have recovered a body. Officers were called to the Long Wood area of Dover at approximately 4pm yesterday where the man's body was found.
