Land secured for new Dover District Leisure Centre

Dover District Council has secured two hectares of land at Honeywood Parkway in Whitfield for the new £26m Dover District Leisure Centre. A planning application is expected to be submitted later this month.

Council Tax levels for 2017/18 were confirmed at a meeting of Full Council last night. Dover District Council has confirmed that the district council part of the Council Tax bill for a Band D property will be £177.39, an increase of 2.87%.
Elderly Dover woman robbed on doorstep

Kent Police is appealing for information after a woman in her 80s reported being robbed on her doorstep. The incident happened as the victim, who uses a walking trolley, returned to her home in Maison Dieu Road, Dover, between 5.15pm and 6pm on Friday 24 February 2017.

Dover District Council's Cabinet has decided to update the Local Plan to better reflect current economic conditions and to bring it into line with the latest planning guidance. Dover was one of the first local authorities in Kent to develop a Local Plan with its Core Strategy adopted in 2010.

A man who admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a head-on collision in Dover has been jailed. Thomas John Armstrong was driving a Proton Savvy the wrong way down Frith Road in the early hours of Monday 21 November 2016 when it was in collision with a Nissan Juke.
